Shakopee City Parks
The City of Shakopee prides itself on its 920-acre park and open space system, with 25 developed parks (and many under way) to serve residents. In addition, the community has access to the Minnesota River Valley and area regional parks.

17th Ave. Sports Complex
30-acre sports complex with six soccer fields, parking and a two-third mile trail loop. Includes concession, restroom and meeting room.
Church Addition/Blakewood Est. Park; Rymark Ct.— playground, gazebo, basketball court.
Countyside N.E., N.W., S.W. neighborhood parks — Shire St. and Ardennes Ave., Hackney Ave. and Caspian Lane — playgrounds, gazebo and trails.

Hiawatha Neighborhood Park

Playground equipment, softball field and full basketball court. Picnic facilities limited to rental for groups of 25 or less. The site has ice skating, with a warming house and picnic facilities.
Holmes Neighborhood Park

Picnic facilities including shelter, grill, horseshoe pits and half basketball court, playground equipment and an ice skating rink that has a warming house.
Huber Community Park
131 Levee Dr.
Located on the banks of the Minnesota River near historic downtown. Includes an outdoor performance area, terrace seating, river views, trail and a community built playground. The Minnesota Valley Trail meanders through the park.
Lions Community Park

Picnic facilities including two shelters and restrooms, horseshoe pits, half basketball court, Frisbee-disc golf, and playground equipment. The SandVenture Aquatic Park has a water slide (and a zero-depth entry sand pool). Daily admission charge. In winter there is an ice skating rink and warming house. Also the site of the Community Youth Building with meeting space.

Memorial Park

Adjacent to the river, with fishing, picnicking, including shelters and restrooms, trails, a nature area, an information booth for visitors, playground equipment, volleyball, horseshoe pits. Groups of up to 150 can be accommodated.
O’Dowd Lake Community Park

Undeveloped park is located on O’Dowd Lake on Co. Rd. 79. There currently is a trail on the north side of the lagoon and a fishing dock on the south side of the park. Future plans for the park include a new paved road, trails, family size picnic shelters and a fishing dock.

Shakopee Community Center

The Community Center offers ice skating, Cybex strength equipment, Stairmasters, bikes, two-court gym and locker rooms. A walking/running track is available free of charge. Aerobic and gym classes available. Meeting rooms available. Family and individual annual memberships available. Daily admission charge.
Adjacent to the Community Center is the Shakopee Skate Park, which has more than 25 different pieces of equipment. Designed as a Tier 1 park, riding surfaces are no more than three feet high. Daily admission is charged.
Muenchow ball fields also are adjacent to the Center. There are two softball fields and one baseball field, with parking available at the Community Center.

Wildlife Refuge

Made up of eight separate units, the 14,000-acre Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge runs from Bloomington to Jordan, along both sides of the Minnesota River. Nearby Chaska, Rapids Lake and Louisville Swamp Units combine to provide 4,700 acres of outdoor opportunities such as hiking, bicycling, cross-country skiing, wildlife observation and photography as posted on Refuge interpretive signs.
Minnesota Landscape Arboretum

The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum offers more than 1,000 acres of landscaped gardens, natural woodlands, wetlands and prairie, plant collections and displays. Walk, hike, cross-country ski more than eight miles of trails. Open 363 days a year.
Trails
The DNR-owned River Valley State Trail runs along the river (the federal and state governments own various parts of the river frontage being preserved). A boat landing, adjacent to the Minnesota River bridge in Belle Plaine, offers access to the river.
